Wallace Health Sciences Complex - South
A new 28,379 SF, two-story facility designed to include state of the art technology for the community college’s Allied Health programs and enable future growth. This new building will include classrooms and lab spaces for programs including: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Ophthalmic Technology, Sleep Diagnostics Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) and Medical Laboratory Technology. Simulation labs with high-tech manikins for students to practice skills before going into a clinical setting are also included in the building. Other spaces in the building’s program include: administrative offices, clinic areas, conference rooms, break rooms, work rooms, a control room, restrooms and lobby.
The building structure is conventional steel framing. Exterior materials include precast concrete, brick, aluminum storefront and standing seam metal and single ply membrane roofing.
Site work includes displacement of a portion of an existing parking lot for the footprint of the new building, adjustments to existing parking, sidewalks, terraces, landscaping and irrigation.
Building materials consist of structural steel frame with exterior metal studs, sheathing and a combination of brick and architectural precast, EPDM on tapered insulation on metal roof deck; standing seam metal roof on underlayment on nail base insulation on metal roof deck.
The HVAC system is a variable air volume system with an air cooled chiller and hot water boilers. Limited CO2 and compressed air system and an acid drain system are also included in the scope of work.
Interior finishes include painted walls throughout, ceramic wall tile in restrooms, high pressure laminate panels in the main corridor at column covers, vinyl wall covering and chair rail in the Conference Room; acoustical tile ceilings throughout with acoustical clouds within Corridor 102 and some drywall ceilings in other areas.
