Award Winning Project
LEED Gold
Vanderbilt University selected Hardaway Construction Corp. to team up with their architects and engineers to assist in Value Engineering, constructability and budgeting to maximize the use of the budgeted dollars for this project.

The 115,619 SF dining facility and commons area also includes special dining areas, lounge type gathering areas, student study centers, mail room and reproduction center, exercise area, a large multi-purpose room that is used as a learning center, and a full service kitchen and serving center.

Unique challenges, such as being located adjacent to the data center and being required to bring in new gas, electric and fiber optic lines while coordinating with the many existing in-service lines were met successfully. Architectural details required special framing and drywall work.

In addition, this is the first LEED™ Gold certified educational facility in the State of Tennessee. An information center is provided for the students to review how the LEED™ certification was accomplished.
