Hardaway was selected by Nashville Machine Company to coordinate overall construction activities and build the addition to the Fiberweb Central Utility Plant for Constellation Energy, the entity providing energy to the plant.  The 16,000 SF addition housed five boilers, three cooling towers and three chillers.  The Boiler Room encompasses 10,246 SF while the separate Chiller Room consists of 2,847 SF.  A separate exterior location was prepared for three 40,000 gallon fuel tanks to serve the equipment within the new building.  In addition, a 584 SF office suite is located on the second floor consisting of two offices, a break room, locker room with shower and a restroom.  Also on the second floor is an additional 2,277 SF of space that consists of the condenser water pump room, an electrical room, an emergency electrical room and a corridor leading to the office area.

Mechanically, the Fiberweb Central Utility Plant consisted of:

3 ea large boilers – min. capacity of 85,000 # of steam per hour
2 ea smaller boilers - min. capacity of 5,000 # of steam per hour
2 ea deaerators
1 ea 15 PSIG PRV/Desuperheater
1 ea 185 PSIG Desuperheater
A boiler chemical treatment system
A cooling tower chemical treatment system
A chilled water chemical treatment system
A blowdown heat recovery unit & tank
3 each centrifugal chillers
4 fuel oil pumps & 3 ea 40,000 gallon fuel oil tanks
3 ea 3,000 gpm condenser water pumps
5 ea boiler feeder pumps
2 ea condensate transfer pumps
1 ea A/C chilled water pump
A 3,000 gpm cooling tower ~22’ long x 12’ wide by 27’ tall
And all associated steam, condensed & chilled water piping

Electrically, the project consisted of:
2 each 2,500 kVA 3 phase tranformers
A 500 kW standby emergency generator
A 4,000 amp portion of switchgear
A 1,200 amp portion of switchgear
