Bonny Kate Library
A 6,000 SF branch library building serving a suburban community of a large city. The structural system consists of load-bearing metal stud walls and wood roof trusses. The roof is architectural standing steam metal over plywood decking. Exterior walls are faced with brick veneer. Interior partitions are metal stud and gypsum board. Features include bookstacks for 40,000 volumes, a special children’s area and a large meeting room for community activities. A distinctive custom-crafted, 200 year clock forms a focal point for the inviting main entrance area.
