The Major General Hugh B. Mott Tennessee National Guard Headquarters is a four-story, 129,000+ SF concrete frame building with upgraded and expanded office space for the Tennessee Army National Guard and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA). It is the second phase in a three phase major renovation of the Tennessee Army National Guard base on in Nashville, Tennessee.

As a component of the State of Tennessee Area Command Headquarters project Hardaway provided the following components of the telecommunications systems:

  1. The building included (1) Main Distribution Frame (MDF) room which was approximately 1500 SF. It also contained (7) Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) rooms which were approximately 100 SF each. The project also included an Emergency Operations Center approximately 1,800 SF.
  2. These areas were served with conditioned air provided by (6) 10 ton Data Aire computer room units.
  3. The MDF room and emergency operations center were protected with an HFC 125 clean agent fire protection system.
  4. These rooms included anti-static flooring systems, and the emergency operation center included access flooring.
  5. The electrical serving the equipment in these rooms were tied into the 1500 KV emergency generator.
  6. Work included conduit raceways from the site property line to the MDF room for franchised utilities cabling. Each of the (7) IDF rooms were connected to the MDF via 100 pair of Cat 3 cabling terminated onto backboards, 24 strand multimode fiber optic cable and 12 strand single mode fiber optic cable. Fiber optic cables were terminated in fiber housings. Tele/data cabling was provided with Cat 5 cabling from the individual outlets to the nearest IDF room where they were terminated on patch panels. The owner provided switches and other tele/data equipment.

Also, as part of this project, a secure raceway system was provided for an owner provided sipernet system from the emergency operations center to various areas throughout the building. The skin of the new building consists of beige precast concrete panels and energy efficient bronze colored storefront, curtain wall system, which allows ample light into all of the above grade office spaces. The roof consists of an Energy Star rated white TPO roof membrane system which reflects much of the sunlight back into the atmosphere instead of being absorbed into the building, saving on energy costs.

The project also included renovation of approximately 20,000 SF within the existing USPFO building, and the reroof of adjacent roof area of approximately 17,600 SF.
