Location: Hendersonville, TN
Owner: First Baptist Church Hendersonville
Architect: Fuqua & Partners Architects

The addition is a three-story building that is utilized by the Owner in several ways. The basement level (29,057 square feet) of the addition is mainly for the youth, and consists of education classrooms, a large and small youth assembly area, office space, a game room, a café, a café kitchen and a three on three basketball court.

The main floor (second level - 40,034 square feet) of the addition has multiple uses, and includes additional office space, a library, an indoor playground, a party room, a food court, a parlor, an area for ping pong and billiards, a gymnasium which includes two full size basketball courts with 12 basketball goals, a racquetball court, a climbing wall space, a weight room, an aerobics room and locker rooms. The upper floor (third level - 17,384 square feet) of the addition consists of a walking track around the perimeter of the gym, a cardiovascular area, an exercise bike area, additional classrooms, a multipurpose room, a gathering area and a 2,120 square foot terrace.

The renovation consisted of renovating the existing fellowship hall, gutting and expanding the old kitchen, additional office space and renovating the old gymnasium into a second fellowship hall with a stage.

The construction included a geothermal heat exchanger field consisting of 154 wells drilled 300’ deep. One of the most interesting aspects of construction was the process of the geothermal system, which utilizes the earth’s temperature to assist with heating and cooling the building by means of the geothermal heat exchanger field, an interior loop piping system and 65 water source heat pumps. Other interests include the climbing wall, two state-of-the-art overhead volleyball systems that raise and lower from the steel roof trusses and the way in which all of the gym equipment is controlled (by keypad).
